These two films dropped in streaming this week, but neither is especially worth watching.
Salem’s Lot This Stephen King classic has been revived once again. Lewis Pullman plays a writer who returns to the titular town, where he was a boy. Thanks to the newly arrived bloodsucker, he witnesses the slow conversion of the town into vampires. The only cool aspect is that children are involved. Although there are 1 or 2 jumps, there’s not much about the story or scares that’s especially original or worth revisiting. (1.5 / 5) Max link
Hold Your Breath Sarah Paulson plays a mother struggling with her 3 children during the Oklahoma Dust Bowl in the ’30s. The storms regularly render the area full of dust, but is there a mysterious specter coming out of the ether? We watch as she SLOWLY becomes haunted by this creature, real or imagined. The pace is deadly and the situations are never remotely tense. (1 / 5) Hulu link
