A young couple moves to Bucharest for his career, but she’s left with nothing to do in a strange city. After she notices a shadowy figure lurching in the window across the street, she decides he’s a serial killer and is out to get her. The movie starts out intriguingly, but her drama grows without any suspense. Even when the inevitable encounter occurs, there’s only a slight bit of tension. This might appeal to Romanian audiences, because many of the locals speak in their native language with no subtitles (obviously, to make her feel even more isolated). Still, this is director Chloe Okuno’s first feature and while she knows how to put together a reasonably decent drama, she hasn’t yet mastered the art of suspense. (2.5 / 5)
