There will be a new feature of this year’s Arts & Culture Xpo (sponsored by CultureWorks). Local artists are creating special works for the Champions Showcase, an exclusive area that will include:
– Limited-edition publication of Richmond novelist David L. Robbins 2nd short story
– DVD of the 7-minute trailer for GWAR’s forthcoming documentary
– Limited-edition prints of the climactic artwork from SPARC’s “Live Art” performance
– Clay McLeod Chapman’s essay, “Fail Better”
– Art on Wheels’ limited-edition screenprint that transforms Clyfford Still’s painting, “Exiled Stardust,” into Richmond’s Purple Martin migration
– Cooking demonstrations by Chef Martin Gravely of UR’s Center for Culinary Arts
– Presentation by “A Moment in Time’s” Dan Roberts
– Brooks Smith’s essay, “Fugitives, Beatniks and Bums”
– Presentation by Bob Layton and Paul DisPasquale, author and contributor to the new book, Discovering Richmond Monuments
These are only for Xpo “Champions” ($50 donation accepted on website or at the event).
For everyone else, the Xpo is free, 6/29, 10 – 5, Greater Richmond Convention Center, free parking.
