THE PLAY: Remember the nasty lady riding the bike and threatening Toto in “The Wizard of Oz?” She’s brought to outrageous life in this one-woman musical (played by a man).
THE PRODUCTION: Robert Throckmorton first created this role 10 years ago and he’s still at his bitchy best! The monologue portions have plenty of clever lines and every song is loaded with fun rhymes and wry observations…and Throckmorton scores with every joke. His assured handling of the audience interaction adds even more comic opportunity. He’s a master of the off-hand comment. Even the simple choreography (often sitting in a chair) is witty. He and Steve Perigard co-directed and there’s sufficient variety to take full advantage of the stage. Joshua N. Wortham’s piano provides perfect accompaniment. Running time: 1:35 with an intermission.
THE POINT: Robert Throckmorton’s flawless timing and witty charisma make for a wickedly-funny spoof.
