Zappa (review)

In 1967, The Mothers of Invention (created by Frank Zappa) changed my outlook on music and I became a fan for many years (that’s me interviewing Zappa at WGOE radio in the 70s). This doc breaks no new ground for the form, but the access to the astounding collection of archival footage and recordings gives unique insight into Zappa’s life and music. There are also interviews with his wife and numerous members of his band. Not only was he respected by most other musicians, but his unabashed political stands gave him an added legacy. Fans will certainly revel in the tribute, but people who have little knowledge of the composer will discover an important, unique and fascinating musical icon.

Interesting fact: This was directed by Alex Winter, best known as Bill in Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure)
