The 3^rd season of this excellent show just finished with everything up in the air for the major characters. The story revolves around Kevin Costner as the stolid owner of a large Montana ranch, his family, his workers and an inevitable villainous presence each season. In addition to interesting characters fleshed out by wonderful performances, the sharp dialogue and often surprising plotting keep it out of melodrama territory. It also helps that the writer is Taylor Sheridan, whose previous work includes Hell or High Water, Sicario, Sons of Anarchy. As a bonus, the landscapes are continually spectacular. Although there are plenty of wranglers, this is not a Western, but an intelligent and compelling drama. Streaming on Paramount Network
