You know the old horror movie trope where the person goes into a dark, creepy room, even though everyone in the audience is thinking, “Don’t go in there”? Well, that happens again and again in this truly dumb movie. Georgina Campbell plays a woman in Detroit for a job interview, when she finds out that her AirB&B property is double booked (not the first movie with that scenario). That only begins a series of idiot moves on her part and the other 2 leads (Bill Skarsgård & Justin Long). Every encounter, whether with other normal humans or the titular characters, doesn’t make sense. To make matters worse, there’s never one moment of tension. This film is truly a head-scratcher: How did anyone greenlight such and obviously stupid enterprise?
