Guillaume Canet (who looks like a French Patrick Dempsey) plays a former cop whose pregnant wife (Stéphane Caillard) is kidnapped. Turns out he has incriminating documents that reveal shocking secrets. Thus begins the frantic search to save the day. But not before an extended flashback that sets up the personal relationships. Much of this narrative is predictable, but Canet’s performance adds impact (he also wrote the screenplay). Most impressive is his daredevil bounding over Parisian roofs. The rest of the action is decent, but the middle section slows the momentum. As a by-the-numbers chase thriller, this one hits some of the elements, but the thrills are hindered by too much personal drama. (2 / 5)
