Apples Never Fall

Annette Bening and Sam Neill play parents to 4 adult offspring. When the series starts, they’re retiring from the tennis club they founded. Shortly after, she disappears and the family is thrown into turmoil. Each episode focuses on a different family member, while adding plot elements including the others. As new relationships and flashbacks alter the story’s perspective, this becomes less of a mystery and more of a family drama. The revelations keep things interesting as the family dynamics twist and turn. What gives the series is strength is the all-around compelling performances with Bening once again wonderfully glorious. (7 one-hour eps) 3.5 out of 5 stars (3.5 / 5)
