Jean-Pierre Jeunet is known for his unique take on subject and style. This latest film may be the most stylized yet. It’s set in the far future in a house where the residents and their friends become trapped when the ruling AI locks down the town. The cast is energetic and slightly over the top, while Jeunet’s direction keeps them moving. The art direction is fanciful and colorful with a hint of 70s style, while the tech elements provide some delightful effects. This whimsical satire sometimes feels like a disjointed cartoon of ideas and situations. Even so, it’s a visual treat. (French with subtitles or English dubbing)
