The title pretty much sums it up…based on a real 80s event about a drug smuggler who died in a parachute accident and left packages of cocaine sprinkled across the Georgia Mountains. As a result, several groups of people venture in the woods searching for the drugs (with Keri Russell looking for her daughter). Naturally, some of them will be viciously killed by the bear, but even if the deaths are brutal, they’re quickly dispatched and often clever (the bear is all CGI). To bring out the comedy, director Elizabeth Banks has assembled a cast of weird types and enjoyable actors (including Ray Liotta in his final role). Much of the humor comes from the crazy antics and astounded reactions of the humans, making this an entertaining romp with a “grizzly” edge. (4 / 5)
