Who knew that there was a group of Black horse riders that live and ride in Philadelphia? Instead of a doc about this unique subculture, this father/son drama’s calling card is Idris Elba. When his troubled son (Caleb McLaughlin of Stranger Things) is sent to spend the summer with him, the typical formula plays out. The story beats are obvious throughout, but the performances are genuine. The only thing to recommend this standard drama is a glimpse into the real world of this unusual horse lovers. BTW, the credits feature interviews clips with some of the real cowboys, who also played small speaking parts in the film.
