Even though the trailer sells this as a comedy, that is primarily a drama (like Force Majeure, the Swedish film on which it’s based). Guessing both of these accomplished comic actors (Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Will Ferrell) cherished the opportunity to go dark, as a married couple on a ski vacation in the Alps. When an avalanche unsettles things, it causes a reevaluation of their marriage. Both of them do a fine job handling something serious, but the script never delves deep enough to be as affecting as it could have been. Interesting, but not exceptional.
