Queen Latifah stars as a nurse who is travelling to Texas with her 2 kids and her brother to make a new start. Before they get to the “End” they must encounter some bad guys to juice up the plot. As action films go, there are some OK encounters (esp. Latifah’s hand-to-hand kick ass with neo-Nazis), but the plot isn’t especially original. Quietly comic turns from Ludacris (the brother) and Shaun Dixon (the son) add some humor and warmth, while Latifah’s strong persona keeps the family and the movie together. There’s nothing especially memorable about this trip and it does push plausibility, but it passes the time.
