This series starts in 2037, as the world is dealing with the inevitable fires, floods and other disasters all over the world. It continues thru 2070, when things are much worse. What starts as an interesting way to tell the climate change story deteriorates into tedious dramatic interactions by the end. First, they’re trying to mitigate the damage, but once that’s abandoned, the other stories are about human relationships taking place in a more limited world. These stories play out all over the world with a variety of stars including Kit Harrington, Sienna Miller, Meryl Streep, Daveed Diggs, Edward Norton, Tobey Maguire and Marion Cotillard, but they were probably more motivated by the good intentions of the subject matter than the actual stories they were saddled with. While there are imaginative looks at the issue and the future, it’s ultimately a sprawling narrative that never coheres, moves slowly and doesn’t engender much emotional impact.
