As far as I can tell, Bow Tie Cinema’s Movieland is the only indoor theatre showing movies in the area. They opened on July 1 (when Phase 3 started) with mostly classics and a few new films (notice the newer titles on the right side of the marquee in the thumbnail).
Of course, they’re abiding by all the rules:
– Masks must be worn at all times in public areas, but people can remove their masks once they’re seated.
– Speaking of, all seats are now reserved, which minimizes time at the Box Office, while assuring safe distances.
– As for the Box Office, it’s closed for now and all transactions take place at the concessions counter, although many people are buying their tickets online (click here) or on the Bow Tie mobile app.
– Hungry? They’ve got all the classic treats like fresh popcorn, soft drinks and candy on sale (with advance, contactless app ordering enabled), while prepared hot foods and alcoholic beverages are temporarily unavailable.
Although Bow Tie didn’t release ticket sales data, they’re only showing films in the larger auditoriums, so there’s plenty of room for people to spread out. At this point, they’re only open Friday thru Sunday with $5 for all tickets. Criterion Cinemas remains closed. Also, they’re offering private rentals for anyone who might want a movie experience with just their family and friends (maximum 20 guests).
At this point, they’re only open Friday thru Sunday with $5 for all tickets. Criterion Cinemas remains closed. Manager Ethan Ochis explains, “Even with small crowds, this is giving us a chance to solidify our safety procedures before bigger movies open later this summer.”
In official statement from Bow Tie CEO & Owner Ben Moss, “The safety and comfort of our guests and employees during this challenging time is our top priority as we reopen. Our teams will strive every day to provide a safe, clean and comfortable environment for our valued guests to enjoy the first class entertainment experience they’ve come to expect at Bow Tie Cinemas and we look forward to finally welcoming everyone back to the movies.”
