Two young Mormon missionaries get trapped in the home of one particularly peculiar villain (Hugh Grant). He engages them in extended theological discourse, but only Grant could use his affable smile and style to make it bearable. Actually, that familiar grin may be creepy in this context. There’s a bit of apprehension throughout the first third of the film, but once things start to develop, it pretty quickly goes off the rails. By the end, it’s a complete disappointment. Keep in mind that there are basically only 3 characters, so there can’t be a lot of deaths. Anyone expecting a horror thriller will find this starts very talky and slightly compelling, but fails to create any real tension, mainly because the story becomes so dumb. (2 / 5)
