Adam Sandler plays a scout for the Philadelphia 76ers, who finds one last phenom in Spain and sets about to get him into the NBA. Sandler turns in a commendable performance and even manages to deliver the occasional funny line without resorting to his typical man/boy delivery. As his discovery, Juancho Hernangomez brings warmth to the character and their relationship, while displaying some impressive moves (he’s actually a pro). Speaking of, the movie is crammed with cameos from basketball stars and coaches. Even though I didn’t recognize most of them, I was still able to enjoy the story (a few less minutes of ball footage would have been fine).
