Jim Caviezel plays a Christian blogger who travels to the Middle East for a conference on religion. When he’s taken hostage, his wife travels to Iran to retrieve him. The narrative follows as he gets deeper and deeper into danger, while she works thru various channels to discover his whereabouts. The process progresses with interest, but it’s only the gripping final 10 minutes that any tension develops. While there are political statements throughout, there isn’t much depth to the arguments, leaving this more a personal drama without much emotional power. Interesting note: This is the first film that I’ve heard COVID mentioned.
