Showtime’s Episodes was a witty series that starred Matt LeBlanc as a brusque American who presented numerous challenges for the British writers of the comedy that starred him. His Friends co-star David Schwimmer takes his turn at playing the brash Yankee upending English sensibilities. He plays an NSA agent who’s been sent to work with a simlar organization in the UK. Schwimmer is effective as the antagonistic American, but it’s up to the fun group of co-stars to add the character humor (including Nick Mohammed, who also created the series). The culture clashes and attitude conflicts provide funny moments, but it’s the wacky supporting actors who make this show the most fun.
NOTE: This is one of the new shows on Peacock, NBC’s streaming service. Before the 1st episode they announce there’s only one commercial, which should be a red flag because the remaining episodes have about 2 minutes of commercials (still fewer than network).
