This film’s writer/director is Sang-ho Yeon, who’s best known for the Korean thriller Train to Busan. His latest revolves around another bleak scenario. It’s 2194, when much of the Earth is flooded and war is constant. The conflict occurs when one soldier is cloned to create an army of military robots to quell the inevitable rebellion. As usual, the story isn’t as important as the creation of a bleak world and solid action scenes. There are the expected robotic killing machines, bleak landscapes and cool sci-fi moments, but the hyper action scenes don’t arrive until the final 15 minutes. Granted, they are well-staged and effective, but even with the film’s assured sci-fi appeal, the action is delayed too long. 3 out of 5 stars (3 / 5)
