This sequel takes place 4 years later, when dinosaurs live and hunt alongside humans. All of the stars are back: Chris Pratt & Bryce Dallas Howard, of course, plus the original team Laura Dern, Sam Neill & Jeff Goldblum (with the characteristic wise cracks). Enter a new villain (Campbell Scott) who’s supposedly researching the prehistoric DNA for medical breakthrus, but no surprise, he’s got a nefarious plan. While there are lots of dino encounters and chases (including echoes of previous shtick), it’s seldom exciting. The effects are perfect, but the plotting has some weak spots and trite elements. Overall, kids and fans will find plenty to watch, but there’s virtually nothing new and little that’s genuinely exciting.
