Jeff Goldblum heads the cast and the gods as Zeus. His supreme confidence is shaken by a prophecy predicting his downfall. This series is set in a modernish world ruled by the gods, who sometime walk among the humans. The cast includes many other members of Greek mythology, sometimes to amusing effect. There’s a romance that leads the narrative to Hades and another whole issue (rendered in black and white). Meanwhile, the family on Olympus has its own problems. Thru it all, Goldblum and Janet McTeer (as his wife, Hera) grab the attention for their commanding performances. There are a few fantastical moments with fun effects and visuals, but the series is uneven: It’s sometimes fun and fascinating, while other times too long and flat. (8 one-hour eps) (3 / 5)
