Kill

If you saw Bullet Train (my review) then you have the basics for this Indian import. Lakshya stars as a commando who finds himself, his girlfriend and her family on a train full of bandits. There are endless close-quarter combat sequences, many of which end in brutal beatings. The Indian influence is felt in the moments of melodrama and the hero overcoming absurd setbacks. Merciless violence is a popular cinematic trend, so there needs to be an original approach to make a film stand out. This one is chocked full of fights, but the direction/editing sometimes confuses what’s actually happening to create a blur of blood and bodies. There are many projects with excess violence and this one falls in the middle. Speaking of similarities, the producers of the John Wick films have already planned an English language version. 2.5 out of 5 stars (2.5 / 5)
