Lamb

A couple that raises sheep in rural Iceland discovers an usual birth and the story goes from unexpected to weird to “huh?”. It’s never clear where this is headed and when it gets there, you’ll continue to be mystified. The only name recognizable to US audiences is Noomi Rapace, who adds her subtle skills to the role as the mother. Since it’s Scandinavian you can expect deliberate pacing, minimal dialogue, static camera, unexplained plot gaps and some impressive mountain scenery. Still, it’s completely compelling with a bizarrely ominous overtone. (Icelandic with subtitles) 3.5 out of 5 stars (3.5 / 5)
