Matthew Fox plays an oil scientist who’s called to a Middle East refinery when weird things start happening. Shortly after that, entire cities are plunged into darkness, while motorized vehicles are stopping abruptly or even exploding. To add a personal element, his wife and blind son are in Paris, while his daughter is in London. First, he must determine what’s causing the breakdowns, track down the person responsible and keep his family safe. The first episodes have some gripping moments, but as the plot thickens, the tension slips. Even though the concept behind this environmental terrorism is pretty scary, the series starts to lose dramatic moment as the explanations play out. The closing scenes become a call to action for climate change, losing the effects of a dramatic resolution and undermining the series’ effectiveness. (Five 40-minute episodes) 2.5 out of 5 stars (2.5 / 5)
