Léa Drucker plays an attorney, who ironically helps young people deal with family and sexual issues. She leads a content life with her hubby and their 2 adopted girls until his son from his previous marriage shows up (Samuel Kircher). After a bit, they begin a torrid, forbidden affair. Director Catherine Breillat is known for sexually-aware projects and she features several extended scenes of passion that are intimate yet detached. Being that this is French, the empathy doesn’t always come from the expected reactions, which makes things even more intriguing. The performances pull you into the drama. This film is certainly provocative, but also enthralling in a dispassionate but fervent way. (3 / 5)
