Lou

Just about every major star takes a turn in a kick ass action movie and this is Allison Janney’s.  She plays a crusty loner who’s drawn into a deadly scenario when the daughter of a neighbor (Journee Smollett) is kidnapped. The duo sets out against the bad guys and a burgeoning storm to rescue her, but not before Lou quickly dispatches some enemies with impressive skills. Of course, there’s a background that’s supposed to add depth, but it’s just another predictable part of this by-the-numbers story (and the storm quietly dissipates without adding much tension or damage). Janey gets tough and her basic skills are sufficient to keep interest, but nothing about this film stands out. 2.5 out of 5 stars (2.5 / 5)
