Gilda Radner was the first female cast on Saturday Night Live, where she created some classic characters and cemented her place in comedy history. Luckily, her life was captured on film from an early age, so this doc had plenty of wonderful footage that continues thru her life and career. There are interviews with close friends and several more recent members of the SNL cast reading her writings (as well as audio commentary from her own tapes). My only complaint is that the filmmakers assume you know her work, because the excerpts are very short. Anyone who’s not familiar won’t be able to appreciate her talent. An extremely loving tribute. NOTE: Stay thru the credit for one last batch of her wit. (Criterion Cinemas only)
