Missing

Storm Reid plays a typical teen, glued to her screens while rolling her eyes at the attention of her mother (Nia Long). After Mom disappears on a vacation to Colombia it’s up to daughter to use numerous forms of technology to solve the case. This basically is a murder mystery in a screens-only format, like the previous compelling film from this duo Searching (my review). Since everything takes place on some kind of screen (computers, cell phones, etc.), it requires smart writing and creative editing. Like their last film, this whodunit would work without the concept, but it’s even more interesting with it. The superb editing and innovative approaches to storytelling elevate this film into a smart, creative thriller. 3.5 out of 5 stars (3.5 / 5)
