Moonfall

When the Moon starts to veer from its orbit, the Earth is threatened with extinction. It’s up to 2 astronauts (Halle Berry & Patrick Wilson) to come to the rescue in space, along with a nerdy scientist (John Bradley who’s supposed to provide the comic moments). All this time, their families on Earth are trying to outrun the disastrous calamaties that ensue. This sounds illogical, but given that director Roland Emmerich is a master of these sci-fi disasters, it’s worth accepting the premise. Then, the situations begin to get silly, before it just breaks down to absurdity. By the end, the whole thing is ridiculous to the point of hilarity. The actors are doing their best, but the family connections are surface. The effects are big and impressive, but they can’t distract from the ridiculousness of this whole mess. A Moon-fail. 2 out of 5 stars (2 / 5)
