Kaitlyn Dever plays a woman who experiences an alien invasion…in her home. When she’s trapped with the creature, this film has some edge. About 2/3 thru, she ventures outside and the story becomes more sci-fi and less thriller. As almost the only human on camera, Dever does a good job of holding her own. Since we know pretty quickly what’s invading, it’s more about the tension and what comes next. The first part is effective in creating mild apprehension, but the final third veers into a conceptual direction with lower anxiety. It’s an interesting hybrid of 2 genres. (3 / 5)
