Not Okay

Zoey Deutch plays an aspiring writer who’s desperate for friends, so she fakes a trip to Paris on social media. When an unfortunate tragedy happens there, her posts about the event boost her internet popularity. Of course, the truth must eventually come out, leaving us with an extended message about the evils of social media and the attendant attention that so many people crave today. Deutch does fine with the up and down aspects of her character. The supporting cast is OK, but lacking much interest. While this might look like a comedy, it’s more a dark satire without any laffs. At least the ending was appropriate.  2 out of 5 stars (2 / 5)
