Tim Blake Nelson plays a widowed farmer who lives with his son in 1900s Oklahoma. Their quiet existence ends when father finds a wounded man and a satchel full of cash. Nelson is working a world-weary look that helps define his stolid gruff character. As always, he’s compelling. The remainder of the small cast also turn in fine performances. This one-man-against-all-odds plot has been done numerous times in several different settings, so watching it unfold is where it pays off…or not. In this case, it’s an interesting character drama that provides a climax with some well-made action sequences. (3 / 5)
