Presence

Director Steven Soderbergh takes a unique approach to this ghost story: It’s told from the POV of the ghost. Lucy Liu and Chris Sullivan play a couple who move into a beautiful house with their 2 teens. While they deal with personal issues, the spectre floats around them, observing and sometimes taking action. This is NOT a horror film or even a thriller, but an inventive way to tell a story with a supernatural edge. It’s often quiet, sometimes too darkly lit and not remotely tense, except possibly the final scene. This unexpected angle, plus a twist, ultimately create an intriguing supernatural tale.
Interesting fact: In the credits, Soderbergh uses different names for his additional tasks: He’s Peter Andrews for cinematographer (which he’s used for most of his films) and Mary Ann Bernard as editor. 3 out of 5 stars (3 / 5)
