She Said

All the President’s Men detailed the reportage behind the breaking of the Watergate scandal, while this movie follows the New York Times reporters who exposed Harvey Weinstein’s years of abuse, helping launch the #MeToo movement. Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan do a steady job in the reporter roles, handling the setbacks with determination, even through the glimpses of personal stories. Most of the cases that were crucial to the story are presented, but in a dry spoken manner (maybe a few tears sometime). While their quest is certainly interesting, the way it’s presented doesn’t make very compelling cinema. The music tries to build the tension, but this is much more of a procedural documentary than a drama to provokes action or outrage. 3 out of 5 stars (3 / 5)
