An upstart doctor is taken to a special military complex where an astronaut has returned from space with an alien inside his body. This Russian import trades in mysterious paranoia and foreboding portent. The concept for the alien works well and the CGI is convincing, but this is not an action thriller or a horror film, but a dark drama (literally and narratively). Even though some of the sequences drag and the continually ominous music is a bit heavy-handed, it’s still a fascinating story that’s well executed. (Russian with subtitles at Movieland)
