After he fails at his father’s butcher business, Dick Turpin (Noel Fielding) decides to become England’s greatest highwayman. He assembles a trio of sidekicks for some truly albsurd adventures. The cast is populated with actors enjoying their “embellished” performances, including delightful star turns from Hugh Bonneville and Tamsin Greig. This series certainly has elements of other British comedies that trade it ridiculousness like Monty Python and Blackadder. As a result, there’s non-stop silliness, some of which falls flat, but much more lands with a laff. It’s a silly romp that continually entertains and sometimes elicits chuckles. NOTE: This is the only show I’ve seen with a smoking warning at the beginning. (Six 30-minute eps)
