This film starts in 2065, after a nuclear bomb made LA Ground Zero and AI has been outlawed in the US. Meanwhile, the world of robots and sentinents is taking greater strides in New Asia. Enter an operative (John David Washington) assigned to destroy the new, more powerful AI, which happens to be in the body of a little girl. After writer/director Gareth Edwards got trashed for Rogue One (my review) he’s resurfaced with this exciting new vision. Not only does the concept have some fresh angles, the CGI structures are impressive and the gadgets are cool. Rising above the remarkable tech is the story of true love (which was actually the original title of the movie). Unlike many of the Marvel movies, which are all about excess, this sci-fi adventure is gifted with cool concepts, spectacular visuals and a heartwarming story. 4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5)
