The Crow

Thirty years later, Bill Skarsgård takes on the iconic role in this new version of the classic. He finds true love with a woman (FKA twigs) who’s hiding a secret. After she’s brutally murdered he enters the nether region between life and death, where he gains his new identity and sets out for revenge on her killer. Skarsgård, who’s gotten ripped for the role, does OK with the character’s intensity. The movie starts slowly and spends too much time setting up their relationship. When his killing spree goes into high gear at the opera, things get brutally violent. This scene (although completely unrealistic like plenty of the narrative) is the highlight of the film. Otherwise, it’s a passable dark graphic novel with beautiful locations and attractive cinematography. Even so, it certainly will flying along with the original. 2 out of 5 stars (2 / 5)
