The Flash

Ezra Miller stars as the titular character whose superpower is extreme speed. After an upbeat hospital rescue sequence, he “speeds” back in time, which causes ripples for everyone. There is a villain, Kryptonian General Zod who wants to destroy Earth (yawn), but this movie is really about Miller’s character, or actually 2 characters (I’ll leave the movie to explain). His mildly awkward, off-beat charm creates 2 versions of himself that play enjoyably off each other. There are a few of the usual action scenes with additional superheroes. The fights are fast, obviously, and the effects are decent. Batman is cast as his friend, so that gives Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck a chance to revive their roles from the previous films. Even at 2.5 hours, this never drags and even manages to present a DC film that’s funny and fun. NOTE: Stay thru all those credits for yet another DC character to have a comic moment. 4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5)
