The Night Agent

Gabriel Basso plays a low-level FBI agent who finds himself in the middle of a conspiracy with national security implications. Predictable. He ends up protecting a key witness (Luciane Buchanan) as they scramble to elude the bad guys. Predictable. Turns out that the scheme involves double dealings at the highest level of government. Predictable. So, what stands out about this series? Basso has grown into an assured leading man type, so he works in the lead. Otherwise, the series adheres closely to established plot points and twists of the genre. There’s much more discussion drama than action, but the few chase or fight scenes are adequately staged. Even though there’s absolutely nothing new here, it’s still a passable, but quickly forgotten addition espionage thriller. 2.5 out of 5 stars (2.5 / 5)
