This series was created by Stephen Merchant (best known for his work with Ricky Gervais). It puts a group of very different people together to perform community service in Bristol, England. It starts out as a comedy, especially with Christopher Walken’s rebellious wisecracks and Merchant’s own self-depreciating style. But what develops is a drama that delves more deeply into each character’s backstory. A group of thugs and some missing money adds the criminal element and ends up uniting all of the characters in what becomes an enjoyable, twisting and ultimately sweet “service.” (6 one-hour episodes)
