This series is set in the current day with one difference; teen girls develop the power to shoot sparks from their fingers, which can be a minor inconvenience or a deadly threat. This scenario is played out around the world, as different girls discover and deploy their newly developed abilities. In a primary plot, Toni Collette plays the mayor of Seattle, who deals with the political issues. The concept has potential, but the series plays much too slowly to sustain much interest. Ep 4 features some intense encounters, but that deteriorates to lots of political and personal drama in later eps. Hopefully, things will get more intense in the final 3, but so far, this isn’t especially…dare I say it…powerful. (Review based on 6 out of 9 episodes). (2.5 / 5)
