Freddie Highmore plays a genius engineer who’s recruited to help rob a legendary lost treasure from the Bank of Spain’s impermeable safe. Anyone looking to compare it to Netflix’s hugely popular Money Heist (which also involves robbing the same bank) will find little to compare. Although this film checks all the required boxes for a crime caper, it never generates much snap. There are the inevitable setbacks and unsurprising challenges, but none of it is exciting or original. Highmore plays the hesitant, quiet type that’s become his signature (with a bit of stubble to counteract his baby face), but he gets all the good breakthroughs. Even though, the movie pretty standard fare.
