The original movie with this title was released in 1953 and a version called Sorcerer came out in 1977 that starred Roy Scheider and was directed by William Friedkin. This new French iteration follows the same basic plot. After an oil well explodes 2 men are hired to drive 2 trucks loaded with extremely volatile nitroglycerine to put out the fire. This time, they’re in an unnamed desert landscape with militant marauders and other obstacles to make their journey challenging. Except that it isn’t. All of the elements of an anxious ride are there, but it’s assembled with any tension or thrills. Almost every scene is predictable, which reduces the stress even more. This is bland road trip with a few explosions and not much else to make it worth the ride. (1.5 / 5)
