This is one of Netflix’s most popular series, taken from the book that became a video game. Henry Cavill is back (as gloomy as ever) in the title role as a monster killer. He’s partnered with Ciri (Freya Allan), as she prepares to take her place in history. The first season was more rugged and raw. There were lots of silly names and exotic places, but the monsters were more prevalent and the action more intense. Season Two obviously had a bigger budget: The dramatic locales, exotic costumes and CGI effects are all greatly improved. However, the story is more disjointed with multiple locations, time periods and storylines to make matters more complex. There’s also too much expository dialogue and needless discussion that interrupts the flow of action and adventure. Still, it’s one of the better current fantasy series. (First season of 8 episodes was released in 2019 and 2^nd season episodes is playing with a 3^rd season announced. ) (3 / 5)
