Writer/director Ruben Östlund (Force Majeure & The Square) always creates films that are complex, unique and surprising. Harrison Dickinson & Charlbi Dean play 2 models. After an early dinner discussion that goes on too long (like some other scenes) they end up on a luxury yacht with a bunch of insufferably rich and demanding passengers. Things go in unexpected directions with fascinating results. The cast is full of unique characters played out with some of Europe’s finest actors. Östlund’s use of wide shots that distance the audience and his cultural commentary sometimes gets overbearing. Still, in a world full of predictable dramas, this film defies expectations and stimulates in distinctive ways. BTW, the title refers to the area between the eyes that shows wrinkles, but it has other meanings for the director. (4.5 / 5)
