Writer/director Taylor Sheridan is hot right now for Yellowstone, but he also developed this series for Sylvester Stallone. After serving 25 years in jail, his character’s mob boss sends him to Oklahoma to start over. Naturally, this involves lots of Stallone playing his usual tough guy, shoving people around physically and mentally. There are splashes of violence, as the character works his way into the local scene, but nothing about the series stands out. Sheridan is known for creating interesting people and pithy dialogue, although there’s some sprinkled about, there’s not much of that here. ThisĀ is mostly about a bully (with a few moments of tearful drama), so those who enjoy Stallone being Stallone will find plenty to enjoy. (Review based on 5 of 6 one-hour episodes) (2.5 / 5)
