Twisters

Daisy Edgar-Jones plays a woman obsessed by weather, particularly tornadoes. She has a theory to “tame” them, but ends up with a rowdy, high-profile, self-described “tornado wrangler” (Glen Powell). The special effects make for great rumbling, sometimes terrifying storms. Interestingly, Lee Isaac Chung, who’s best known for the intimate drama Minari (my review) is at the helm. As a result, the characters and their relationships become more meaningful. Edgar-Jones creates a spunky, determined character, while Powell once again exerts his cinematic charms. This makes the storm chasers’ adventures that much more exciting. For a big-screen special effects movie, this one is super breezy fun. 3.5 out of 5 stars (3.5 / 5)
